Privacy Notice

Effective 25 July 2026. Last updated 25 July 2026.

This notice explains what we do with your personal information. It is written to be read, not to be endured. If any part of it is unclear, write to us and we will explain it in plain terms.

1. Who we are

Alárìnà Services is a private matchmaking practice operated by Yetunde The Alarena Limited, a company registered in the Federal Republic of Nigeria with registration number 7736690, whose registered office is at 43 Onasanya Street, Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria.

For the purposes of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the EU General Data Protection Regulation, Yetunde The Alarena Limited is the data controller for the information described here. That means we decide what is collected and why, and we are answerable for it.

You can reach our data protection contact at [email protected].

2. What we collect

When you send an enquiry through this website

The enquiry form asks for exactly six things, and nothing more:

  • Your full name
  • Your email address
  • Your telephone number, including country code
  • Your city and country
  • A sentence or two describing what you are hoping to find
  • Your consent for us to contact you about that enquiry

Alongside your answers, our systems record the time of submission, the country your request came from, and your browser's user agent string. These are kept for security and for fraud prevention, not for profiling you.

We do not ask for photographs, identity documents, financial details or anything about your health, religion, ethnicity, politics or sexual life at the enquiry stage. Please do not include such details in the free-text field.

If you become a client

Should we proceed beyond the first consultation, we will collect considerably more, and we will tell you plainly what and why before we do. That typically includes background and biographical detail, your preferences, identity verification records, and notes from conversations with your matchmaker. Some of that is special category information under UK and EU law, for example religious belief or relationship history. We collect it only with your explicit consent, and only because a matchmaking service cannot be performed without it.

Automated bot protection

The enquiry form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a submission comes from a person rather than a script. Turnstile receives your IP address and limited technical signals from your browser. It does not track you across other websites and does not build an advertising profile.

3. Why we use it, and on what basis

  • To answer your enquiry. A matchmaker reads what you sent and contacts you. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you gave with the checkbox on the form, and which you may withdraw at any time.
  • To provide the service, if you engage us. Our basis is the performance of our contract with you, and for special category information, your explicit consent.
  • To verify identity before any introduction. Our basis is contract performance and our legitimate interest in the safety of everyone we introduce.
  • To keep the service secure. Rate limiting, bot filtering and audit logging rest on our legitimate interest in preventing abuse.
  • To meet legal and tax obligations. Our basis is compliance with a legal obligation.

We do not use your information to advertise to you. We do not sell it. We do not share it with data brokers. We do not make decisions about you by automated means alone.

4. Who sees your information

Inside our organisation, access is limited to the matchmaker handling your enquiry and to the small number of staff who maintain the systems that hold it.

Outside it, we rely on a short list of service providers, each bound by contract to process your information only on our instructions:

  • Cloudflare, Inc. Website hosting, bot protection and network security.
  • Amazon Web Services. Storage of files associated with client engagements.
  • Hetzner Online GmbH. Hosting of the application servers that receive your enquiry.
  • Migadu and Zoho. Email and support correspondence.
  • Our professional advisers. Lawyers and accountants, where they need to know.

We will disclose information to a court, regulator or law enforcement body where we are legally compelled to. If that ever happens and we are permitted to tell you, we will.

We never disclose your identity to another client or candidate without your written consent. That is the central promise of this practice, and it holds without exception.

5. Where your information is held

We serve a community spread across Nigeria, the United Kingdom, North America, Brazil, the Caribbean and beyond, so your information may be transferred outside the country you live in, including to servers in the European Union and the United States.

Where information leaves the UK or the European Economic Area, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, together with additional technical safeguards including encryption in transit and at rest. Where information leaves Nigeria, we transfer it in accordance with sections 41 to 43 of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

We have not appointed a representative in the United Kingdom or the European Union. If we appoint one, this notice will be updated and their contact details published here. In the meantime, anyone in the UK or the EU may exercise every right described below by writing to our data protection contact directly, and we will answer within the same thirty days.

6. How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not proceed: Twelve months from your last contact with us, then deleted.
  • Client records: for the duration of the engagement and seven years afterwards, which is the period our tax and professional obligations require.
  • Security and audit logs: twelve months.
  • Records of consent and of any request you make under this notice: six years, so that we can show we honoured it.

If you ask us to delete your information sooner, we will, unless we are legally required to keep a specific record. We will tell you if that is the case.

7. How we protect it

Information is encrypted in transit and at rest. Identity numbers are held under separate encryption. Access is granted on a need to know basis and is logged. Staff are bound by confidentiality obligations that survive the end of their engagement with us. We review these measures regularly, and we test them.

No system is perfect, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. If a breach ever affects your rights, we will notify you and the relevant regulator within the timescales the law requires.

8. Cookies and tracking

This website sets no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies and no tracking pixels. There is no Google Analytics here, and no social media tracker.

Typefaces are served from our own domain rather than a font network, so loading this page sends no request to any third party for that purpose.

Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary cookie as part of bot protection and network security. It exists to keep the site available and is not used to profile you.

9. Your rights

Wherever you live, we will honour the following:

  • Access. Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you.
  • Correction. Ask us to fix anything inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Deletion. Ask us to erase your information, subject to records we must keep.
  • Restriction. Ask us to pause our use of your information while a dispute is resolved.
  • Objection. Object to processing we carry out on the basis of legitimate interests.
  • Portability. Receive the information you gave us in a machine readable form.
  • Withdrawal of consent. Withdraw consent at any time. That does not undo processing carried out before you withdrew it.

Write to [email protected]. We will respond within thirty days. Exercising any of these rights costs nothing, and we will not treat you differently for having asked.

10. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we have the chance to put it right. You also have the right to complain directly to a regulator:

  • Nigeria: the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, at ndpc.gov.ng.
  • United Kingdom: the Information Commissioner's Office, at ico.org.uk.
  • European Union: the supervisory authority in the member state where you live.

11. Age of clients

This service is for adults. We do not knowingly accept enquiries from anyone under eighteen, and we will delete any such enquiry on discovering it.

12. Changes to this notice

If we change this notice, we will update the date at the top. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will contact you directly rather than rely on you noticing.
